Evanescence has premiered a new single called “Wasted on You,” the first song to be released from the band’s upcoming album, The Bitter Truth.
The track is available now via digital outlets, and its accompanying video, which features footage fromAmy Lee and company of their quarantined lives, will debut Friday at noon ET on YouTube.
“‘Wasted On You’ wasn’t the song we were planning to release first, but when the whole world went into indefinite lockdown and everything changed, so did the feeling and meaning of what we wanted to say right now,” Lee explains. “I didn’t write these lyrics about what we’re all now going through, but somehow that’s exactly what they are.”
More Evanescence music will trickle out throughout 2020, as a press release promises that The Bitter Truth will be released “incrementally” over the year.
The Bitter Truth follows 2017’s Synthesis, which featured re-recorded versions of past Evanescence songs with added orchestral and electronic elements. The group’s most recent all-original album is their 2011 self-titled effort.
