Deftones is continuing to work on a new album while under quarantine.
In an Instagram video, drummer Abe Cunningham says that the record, the follow-up to 2016’s Gore, is still in the mixing phase.
“Given the current situation, it’s been a bit difficult to get everyone in the same room,” Cunningham says. “We can’t. So, we’re slowly still doing that.”
“I wanted to thank you for your patience, obviously, and, of course, your interest in [the album],” he adds. “It’s coming.”
In an interview published in February with Australia’s Forté magazine, keyboardists and turntablist Frank Delgado said that the album was “basically done.” Of course, that was in a pre-coronavirus world.
While you wait for new Deftones tunes, you can catch Delgado performing a live stream DJ set on Twitch Friday night at 8 p.m. ET.
