Ethanol industry facing “worst crisis in history”

The impacts from COVID-19 have crippled the ethanol
industry, with more than 70 plants completely shut down and less than 60 able
to operate at near-normal capacity.

Renewable Fuels Association CEO Goeff Cooper shared the numbers with reporters Monday afternoon.

“I think it’s not an exaggeration to say that we are experiencing the worst crisis in the industry’s 40-year history.”

Cooper says they were disappointed to see the $19 billion
aid package announced by the USDA Friday left the 350,000 workers supported by
the ethanol industry behind.
